Knappová Jana
Researcher 2010-2019
During my PhD studies I dealt with semi-natural dry grasslands and abandoned fields. Research on diversity and landscape dynamics of these interesting species-rich habitats brought me questions which I have been trying to answer with further field and garden experiments. I am interested in diverse interactions of plant species with their biotic environment. Specifically, I study competition and its underground component, plant-soil feedback, and I am also involved in study on insect herbivory. To make the view on biotic interactions more complex, they need to be investigated under varying environmental conditions or stresses. I am also focused on plant traits, which can help us to better understand how plants cope with their environment. Among those, dispersal traits are of my biggest interest as predictors of species distribution in the landscape. I am an enthusiastic explorer of diverse methodological issues, always open to scrutinize novel approaches. As an integral part of research profession I enjoy passing on knowledge and experience to students and even to the youngest generations.
