Petr Petřík’s research deals with vegetation ecology in general, focused on the classification and recent changes of forest vegetation in Central Europe. In sub-projects, he has also been interested in the invasion biology of ornamental plants (especially in abandoned settlements), seasonal changes of dry grasslands, regional floristics (especially in North Bohemia) and popularization of botany (he was the editor-in-chief of the journal Botanika). He is active in the field of nature conservation as coordinator of the Landscape Platform (nasekrajina.eu) and head of the local association. He studied biology and geobotany at Charles University in Prague, where he received his Ph.D. (2006) in the methodology of grid mapping of plants. Since 2000, he has been working as a researcher at the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences and since 2023 he is a supervisor of the Geobotany course at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague.
