Summary: | Specificity of ecological studies makes predictions in ecology very difficult but still desirable. The first generation of studies of plant traits and predictability of vegetation changes after cessation of management points out that the original idea to base our predictions on several generally accepted and easily obtainable plant traits can not meet our requirements and has resulted in a call for the use of more specific traits. In a this model study, we want to search for specific traits to answer the question whether potential dominants which take over after abandonment of meadow may be predicted from functional traits. We will consider plant traits relevant to the whole plant life cycle as well as effect and response traits. We will work at two localities with similar potential dominants but different environmental filters (wet and dry meadow). |
