Summary: | The project aims at optimising a technology for cultivation of fast-growing trees (FGT) in soils contaminated by heavy metals with the use of inoculation by symbiotic microorganisms. It should offer an alternative use of contaminated farmland and extremely contaminated areas for biomass production. Apart from FGT biomass production, also off-production effects of the technology will be taken into consideration, especially its contribution to the phytoremediation of the contaminated soils. The project also aims at contributing to the knowledge of tolerance mechanisms of FGT and mycorrhizal fungi to heavy metals. |
