Summary: |
Proposed project aimes to get new evidences concerning landscape evolution of the Krkonoše (Giant) Mts. in the Quarternary period. Records of various stages of landscape evolution of the Krkonoše Mts. will be acquired. Glacial and periglacial landforms will be analysed and palaeoecological investigation of peatbogs in the Krkonoše Mts. and deposits in the Labský důl valley will be accomplished. It is intended to establish chronostratigraphy of glaciations using variety of dating techniques. Landforms indicating former presence of permafrost will be assesed, with regard to their palaeogeographic significance. Sedimentary record in the Labský důl profile will be compared with profiles from nortern part of the Krkonoše Mts. which covers whole period of the Holocene. Climatic proxydata for the Holocene will be extended by the ´13C method. The chronostratigraphy data set will be correlated with analogous data from selected hercynian mountain areas in the Central Europe. |
