Summary: | Spatially-explicit realistic model of spreading of the invasive species Pinus strobus in Bohemian Switzerland: We propose to examine the role of landscape structure and different dispersal parameters for the invasion spread of a pine species (Pinus strobus) invasive in Central Europe using a realistic spatially-explicit invasion model. The invasion in the sandstone landscape (Bohemian Switzerland) with highly varying degree of connectivity and density of suitable habitats will be modelled. The model will be parameterized with the data on population biology of the species, and calibrated using the historical data of the invasion. For this reason data sets already available in studies of vegetation and population biology, data from foresters´ inventories, and information from digital maps will be assembled. These data will be complemented with newly collected field and experimental data for the model calibration. At a more practical level, it will be used to propose eradication strategies. |
