Summary: |
Arctic climate and biological diversity is an interdisciplinary (biology and climatology) research project, which is proposed as a part of the Network for ARCtic Climate and Biological DIVersity Studies (ARCDIV) - a multidisciplinary international research initiative. This initiative is prepared under the auspices of the International Polar Year (IPY 2007 – 2008). The draft of the IPY activities of the ARCDIV No. 313 is enclosed herewith (attachment 1), together with the letter of the ICSU/WMO Joint Committee for the International Polar Year, Dr. Ian Allison and Dr. Michel Béland, co-chairs of Joint Committee (attachment 2). The project is seeking to explore the diversity of both climates and ecosystems, at the landscape scale within the Arctic region, by integrating existing and new intensive measurements of key biological and physical variables and processes at multiple circum-Arctic observational sites. |
