Summary:	The aim of this study was to get more detailed information about mechanisms responsible for changs in population size of rare species (on example of Dracocephalum austriacum and Gladiolus palustris). We did that using detailed study of dynamics and genetic diversity of their populations. The results of this study enabled us to decide which life stages should be supported in case of decline of population size.
