Summary: Three-year project aimed at evaluating the role of the seed stage in promoting invasiveness by alien plants, using a combination of laboratory and field experiments and the analysis of data published globally. The project involves the maintenance of a large-scale seed burial experiment and the development and analysis of a global soil seed bank database, containing soil seed bank data (type and density) published in the literature. This project follows a three-year project funded by GA CR entitled 'Timing is everything: the role of soil seed banks in plant invasions' (2015-2017) (project leader MG).
