Summary: | Reproduction systems determine and control the type of variability at the population and species levels. A very prominent impact of a reprodction system on the variation can be observed in the case of agamospermy. Asexual seed (fruit) reproduction plays an importnat role primarily in the Asteraceae. For the vast majority of the Asiatic representatives, and for the Chinese ones in particular, reliable data on Asteraceae asexuality is missing. |
