Summary: |
The proposed project represents a taxonomic study of the lichen genera Lepraria and Leproloma in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and neighbouring areas of South Eastern Europe. These two genera form a group of sterile crustose but long time overlooked lichens. They are up to now fairly well known only in small part of the world (especially in North and Western Europe). The project follows up with the investigation\'s results of other lichenologists. It will yield new data on taxonomy (especially chemotaxonomy), phytogeography and ecology of this group of lichens. The results will be important for biodiversity and can be used in bioindication and nature conservation. Methods for the analysis of secondary compounds (TLC, HPLC) and methods of experimental taxonomy (isolation and cultivation of photobionts) will be used in addition to routine taxonomic methods. The project will establish chromatography into the Czech lichenology. |
