Summary:	Species distribution shifts upward are reported mainly from non-forest mounain communities but from forests there are less and no clear findings. Forest tree distribution is continuously influenced by their onthogenetic development, which is neglected in published studies. Comparing distribution parameters in various onthogenetic stages within two different climatic periods we will analyse changes in distribution of selected forest trees (particularly the beech - Fagus sylvatica L.) in context of recent climatic changes and onthogenetic stage.
