Summary:	Extent of climatic fluctuations and changes in landscape configuration after recent (the Late Quaternary) deglaciations could differ considerably along longitude and altitude in Eurasia. Studying the evolutionary response of a given species to recent glaciation and deglaciation cycles across Eurasia would thus permit to answer several important questions: Did populations of the same species across Eurasia respond to global climatic changes simultaneously? Were patterns of historical migration, habitat fragmentation, and range expansion similar in different environments across the wide range of the same species? How strong was impact of non-climatic factors (biotic interactions, soil composition) on historical and current genetic processes in plant populations?
