Scientists from Institute of Botany discover the source of the extraordinary species richness of meadows in Transylvania, Romania
Scientists from the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with other research institutions, have discovered the source of the extraordinary species richness of meadows in Transylvania, Romania, which are among the richest in the world. The research, published in the journal The Holocene, shows that the source of this diversity is the light forests of the Ice Age, which may have been the home of many of today’s meadow species.
